Osmosis releases a major governance proposal to convert OSMO to ATOM

According to official news, Osmosis has released a significant governance proposal for the Cosmos ecosystem, aiming to directly integrate Osmosis into the Cosmos Hub, while the Osmosis DEX will natively migrate to the Hub, thereby unifying liquidity, governance, and security on a single chain.

All circulating OSMO, except for the OSMO that is not deployed in the Osmosis community pool, will be eligible for conversion to ATOM within a specified six-month window. The proposed conversion rate is 0.0355 ATOM for 1.998 OSMO.

The Cosmos Hub community pool currently holds approximately 10.11 million ATOM, and there are still about 1.75 million ATOM open, accounting for approximately 0.35% of the total supply, equivalent to less than two weeks of staking emissions. This proposal will not introduce any ongoing emissions or structural inflation changes. The conversion window will remain open for six months. At the end, any unclaimed ATOM will be returned to the Cosmos Hub community pool.
