Strategy's First Bitcoin Purchase Anniversary: Market Value Surges Over 78x
BlockBeats News, August 11, Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) made its first Bitcoin purchase on August 11, 2020. At that time, Strategy spent $250 million to buy 21,454 Bitcoins, with an average price of around $11,652. This marked MicroStrategy's first move to hold Bitcoin as part of its reserve assets, becoming the first publicly traded Bitcoin treasury reserve strategy company.
On August 11, 2020, MicroStrategy had a market capitalization of about $1.436 billion. The current market capitalization of Strategy (MSTR) is $112.04 billion, representing an over 78x increase. Strategy (MSTR) currently holds 628,791 BTC, valued at $76.704 billion, with an average holding price of $73,207.87 and an unrealized gain of approximately $30.6 billion.
