By mid-May, Bitcoin (BTC) reclaimed the $100,000 level, and with numerous other cryptocurrencies following its lead and reaching long-lost heights, many investors are optimistic that the long-awaited ‘altseason’ is starting. However, not all assets fly in a bull market, and not all that do are met with equal success. Therefore, Finbold analyzed key market trends and identified three standout altcoins worth watching in the second half of this month. Ethereum (ETH) Ethereum (ETH) has spent much of the 2024 and early 2025 cycle out of the limelight, but recent developments are once again bringing it to the forefront of the altseason. The token’s price action is the most obvious reason for the resurgence. After being stuck below $2,000 since early March, ETH shot up from $1,810 on May 8 and hit the latest high above $2,675 on May 14. While trading in the last 24 hours has been downward and took the cryptocurrency to $2,560, most experts estimate it is a shallow correction rather than a sign that bullish momentum has been exhausted. For example, the popular on-chain analyst Ali Martinez made an X post on May 15 explaining that Ethereum is close to closing above its 200-day simple moving average (SMA), indicating a large rally is ahead. Sui (SUI) Sui (SUI) has mirrored broader crypto market trends since the start of May At press time on May 15, SUI is 68.10% in the green in the 30-day chart and, at $3.72, 4.79% above its price at the start of the month. More importantly, after plummeting amidst the turmoil of mid-April, the total value locked (TVL) as expressed in SUI has been slowly rising and, unlike the cryptocurrency’s price, hasn’t entered a correction by May 15, positioning it as a decisively growing layer-1 network. XRP (XRP) For years, few discussions about altcoins were held without mentioning XRP, and seldom has that been more apt than in May 2025. XRP has been affected by multiple positive developments pertaining to the token itself and to the company that once got in legal trouble for issuing it. Indeed, one of the major drivers of the cryptocurrency’s explosive growth has been the latest $50 million agreement between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that would finally end the court case. The optimism emerging from the news is most evident in the XRP price chart. After twice failing to breach the resistance near $2.29, the token soared in recent weeks and crossed above $2.60 on May 14. While investors remain bullish and most digital assets have been gripped by the May 15 correction, it is worth noting the downturn could be more dangerous for XRP than for others. The $2.50 level has been identified as an important support for the token to hold, and its drop to the press time price of $2.46 might see XRP testing lower resistances without a swift bullish reversal.
