It was swiftly clarified that XRP was associated with Ballard, raising concerns about the lobbyist’s influence. Subsequent to this incident, staff were directed to avoid any engagements with Ballard. However, whispers from within the Trump circles suggested a deeper issue, as many officials suspected Ballard of leveraging Trump’s image for personal gain. An investigation by Politico unveiled Ballard’s past connections to Trump fundraising, indicating his ties to the administration remain intact despite the fallout.
